Field Technician - Custom Computer Specialists

Location: New York City & Surrounding Areas (Long Island)
Are you a tech-savvy professional with strong customer service skills? We're looking for a NYC-based Field Technician to join our growing team! You’ll play a vital role in a large-scale technology deployment program for a K-12 client, handling network infrastructure, cabling, and equipment installation.
What You’ll Do:
- Survey & Document: Survey classrooms, offices, and network closets for network equipment placement and availability. Propose and document access points and switch placements.
- Install & Configure: Trace ports/cables, patch cables, rack, and stack equipment, and manage cabling for network setups.
- Collaborate: Work directly with NYC school staff and client field project managers to ensure successful deployment and client satisfaction.
- Support: Assist network integration engineers with larger-scale integrations and network refreshes.
- Report: Provide detailed reports, document installations, and ensure client sign-offs.
Requirements
- Network Knowledge: Level 1 or 2 experience in networking, cabling, fiber optics, routers, and switches.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to document structured cabling and maintain clean, concise records.
- Communication Skills: Outstanding customer service, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Technical Abilities: Understanding of cabling standards and basic network infrastructure. Proficiency with Excel is required.
- Flexibility: Must have a valid driver’s license, daily access to a car, and be willing to travel throughout the five boroughs of NYC and occasionally to Long Island. You’ll also visit our Hauppauge, LI office once a week.
Compensation:
- Salary: $42,000 - $49,000/year
