Department Profile:
The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firm's books and records, and by contributing to firm wide risk management and risk reduction. Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanley's various businesses and its senior management team.
The Morgan Stanley Baltimore office is a critical component of the Firm`s Global footprint and has 1,400 employees that provide support and services to the Investment Banking, Securities, Investment Management and Wealth Management Businesses.
Team Profile:
Our Investment Banking Division Finance team is currently seeking to engage with Baltimore's leading talent to fill a position in the Mergers & Acquisition (M&A) group. The role requires a highly motivated individual with strong analytical, accounting, technology, people and communication skills. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the Income statement, Balance Sheet, Client Invoicing and Expense reporting processes. This position will have extensive contact with the M&A and Banking business units, M&A Administration and Worldwide M&A Controllers. We are particularly interested in speaking with you if are a detail-oriented individual with strong accounting and PC skills, as well as a willingness to take on and prioritize various ad-hoc projects.
Primary Responsibilities
- You will produce daily Revenue and Expense Reporting
- You will produce the M&A Weekly Management Report
- You will complete the monthly expense analysis for the M&A Admin Officer (research and provide commentary)
- You will prepare our monthly reconciliation and substantiation for net revenue and balance sheet sign-offs
- You will have daily dialogue with bankers relating to transaction updates, deal documentation, and potential billing opportunities
- You will assist in Invoice Preparation, calculating advisory fees to be invoiced and confirming the fees with business unit
- You will maintain the fee precedent schedules (quarterly progress fees, fee splits, incentive fees, global aging)
- You will be responsible for documentation relating to SOX and audit reviews
- You will assist with IT projects, including system enhancements, testing, and roll-outs
Qualifications
Skills required
- You have an interest or familiarity with Financial Markets and Products
- You have previous work experience in Financial Services, Audit or Accounting
- You have worked against challenging stakeholders and/ or deadlines to deliver positive results
- You are willing to observe process and disrupt it in order to prioritize the team' efficiency
- You will be able to maintain a strong sense of organization and time management skills
- You are a keen multi-tasker and use a high-paced environment to your advantage
