Salary Range: $112,000 - $167,000 per year
About the Role:
Our client is seeking an experienced Finance Director to serve as the chief fiscal officer and contract administrator. This critical leadership position involves managing financial records, overseeing accounting functions, and administering contracts. The Finance Director will play a key role in advising the leadership team on budgetary matters, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and preparing essential financial reports. Primary Responsibilities:
Staff Management:
- Supervise and manage finance department staff, including work assignment, performance evaluations, and policy enforcement.
- Provide necessary training and ensure a safe working environment.
- Make recommendations regarding hiring, terminations, and disciplinary actions.
Accounting Oversight:
- Oversee all accounting functions, including the administration of processes, procedures, systems, and standards.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Financial Reporting:
- Review and audit internal financial reports, general ledger entries, and related documents.
- Identify, research, and resolve financial discrepancies, ensuring timely report submissions.
Budget Management:
- Develop, submit, and manage the annual budget.
- Evaluate revenue records and prepare accurate budget forecasts.
Annual Reporting and Audit Preparation:
- Prepare annual comprehensive financial reports (ACFR) and other required financial documentation.
- Respond to auditor inquiries and address any identified issues.
Tax and Asset Management:
- Maintain precise records of taxes, assessments, and all funds owed to the organization.
- Manage coordination with the County Auditor and the organization’s bond counsel.
- Oversee the maintenance of asset records, including vehicles, real estate, and infrastructure.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, or Economics.
- At least 10 years of administrative accounting experience, with a minimum of 5 years in government accounting.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Valid Ohio Driver’s License or ID.
- Preferred: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in the State of Ohio.
Knowledge of:
- Managerial principles and financial management practices.
- Budgeting principles and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) guidelines.
- Internal financial controls and relevant laws and regulations.
- Automated financial systems and financial report preparation.
Skills in:
- Monitoring and evaluating employee performance effectively.
- Managing financial operations and driving procedural improvements.
- Preparing and analyzing detailed financial statements and reports.
- Organizing and presenting complex financial data clearly.
- Applying federal, state, and local laws and regulations effectively.
- Communicating clearly and building strong interpersonal relationships.
