JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Finance Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field, or have five years directly related experience
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality as it regards school business
- Proactive team player
- Knowledge of accounting principles and methods
- Work a very deadline driven operation, so that delays in payment do not occur
- Ability to perform detailed work involving written and numerical data
- Capable of a high level of proficiency utilizing an accounting database and Microsoft Excel
- Be able to work independently, while contributing to the entire team
- Well versed in oral and written communication
REPORTS TO: SAU #9 Director of Budget and Finance
JOB GOAL: To oversee the accounting data concerning financial transactions of expenditures, income and payroll processing and to manage the annual independent audit.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the Director of Budget and Finance in any departmental task required, including:
- Cross trained to be able to step in and perform the duties and responsibilities of the Payroll Manager
- Annual production of 1099 reporting
- Issue purchase orders and encumbering costs into accounting system, assuring budget compliance
- Maintain the fixed asset list for the annual audit, including issuing fixed asset tags
- Produce all audit documentation required for the annual independent audit
- Year-end closeout procedures, including journal entries, prior year accrued payroll, account payable, and accounts receivable
- Report to the DOE the monthly lunch and grant expenditures
- Work with all grant coordinators to create individual grants in the accounting database and to update the accounting database on all budget modifications
- Provide recommendations to the Director of Budget and Finance as necessary to improve the efficiency and compliance needs of the districts
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve month year. Salary to be established by the Superintendent and SAU 9 Board. Salary Range: $50,000 to $60,000
WORK YEAR: 260 day year/round position
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of SAU#9’s personnel policies using the Managerial Level Employee Evaluation Form. The Director of Budget & Finance and/or administrative designee will be the evaluator.
