Finance Manager
Hourly Range: $44.58 - $58.66
The Finance Manager is a temporary part-time, non-exempt position that reports to Summit Public Schools’ CFO. The successful candidate will need initiative, strong attention to detail and adaptability as s/he learns how the accurate and timely reporting of information furthers our organizational objectives. Organizational skills, business judgment, and ability to form collaborative working relationships with diverse constituencies will be required to succeed in this position.
The Finance Manager holds a key role on the Finance team having ownership of the reconcilement, vendor management and accounts payable processes. Other responsibilities include developing and maintaining monthly school and departmental budget reports to facilitate strategic and tactical decision-making.

What You’ll Do:

Manage complex monthly closing procedures on time for the entire Summit organization. This includes reconcilements, journal entries, vendor bills, stale checks and other maintenance of accounting records. Prepare monthly journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts.

Execute year end close procedures including accrual and revenue reconciliation in compliance with GAAP, GASB and FASB standards. Prepare annual journal entries. Assist in reconciliation of audit reports to accounting records.

Prepare budgets and create annual cash flow forecasts, under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer. Forecast monthly cash needs for WA operating accounts to ensure sufficient cash resources to meet spending needs and to comp with approved policies. Support board and school-level budget and forecasting activities by preparing financial reports and ad-hoc analysis including: Summit internal teams and schools, bond holders, reports and authorizers.

Review, advise and oversee certain aspects of staff accountants’ responsibilities.

Collaborate with the CFO to develop, implement and maintain the accounting system policies and procedures. Monitor appropriate procedures for preparation of accounting records, research of transactions and reporting, special reporting requests, and to support overall department goals and objectives.

Administer Netsuite accounting system including user maintenance, fund balancing add-on maintenance, and review and implementation of feature enhancements. Develop new system enhancements such as electronic payments to streamline processes.

Establish a system of continuous improvement in order to review and maintain efficient procedures while ensuring accuracy for financial reporting and new accounts and systems. Recommend improvements and develops strategies to improve overall department effectiveness and efficiency.

Compile accounting data and create management reports for all stakeholders to assist with an efficient decision making process.

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or related field preferred, and working knowledge of accounting principles or school operations.

Advanced degree and CPA designation preferred, but not required

2-4 years of finance or accounting experience.

Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, ability to engage and work closely with a wide range of staff members (educators, school administrators, senior management, program auditors)

Proficiency in Google Platforms, including Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Docs, and Google Slides.

Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
