HJF is seeking a Financial Analyst III who develops, interprets and implements financial concepts for financial planning and control. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
This position will be in support of the Viral Diseases Program (VDP) under the Global Infectious Diseases (Global ID) Program located in Bethesda, MD.
The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.
Responsibilities:- Participate in annual budget developing process and review site budgets.
- Ensure all budgets are prepared in compliance with USG requirements.
- Manage significant amount of data for multiple projects and formulate financial report to be shared with stakeholders.
- Performs on the monthly basis technical financial analysis of current expenses and projection trends to determine present and future financial performance of the program, and the individual projects.
- Assists with setting up new financial reports that will meet their requirements, provide cost projections, and analyze monthly revenue and expense variances.
- Reviews and analyses monthly wire requests and ensures that international sites maintain appropriate cash balances.
- Communicates and interacts effectively with all levels of staff within the organization including Site level finance and program team and HJF HQ staff. Builds positive relationships with a professional and customer-service oriented demeanor.
- Prepares monthly financial reports for international sites for various stakeholders.
- Produces monthly personnel and cost center listing for program staff.
- Monitors open purchase orders and facilitates the closing process to ensure any remaining funds are returned to the program after the service or product has been received.
- Assist with preparing Journal Vouchers, as required.
- Assists with initiating, organizing, completing department tasks.
- Prepares periodic management ad- hoc reports to facilitate.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree required preferably in a Business related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Incumbent will be required to have knowledge of financial management, technical skills in data management and work independently and without direct supervision for short periods of time.
- The incumbent must be able to identify critical aspects of their job and prioritize multiple competing projects with little or no direct daily guidance from supervisor.
- Must display initiative and possess “self-starter” qualities necessary for success in a fluid and dynamic work environment.
- Must have advanced working knowledge of MS Excel including VLOOKUPS, SUMIF, pivot tables, and MS Access.
- Effective Communication Skills (Written & Verbal).
- Understanding of accounting processes, procedure and internal controls.
- Strong research and analysis skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly and learn new tasks independently.
- Ability to assimilate detailed information into the bigger picture.
- Excellent organization skills; Ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to generate bold, creative ideas to improve performance.
Work Environment
- This position will take place primarily in an office setting.
