The Village of Orland Park, a dynamic, progressive community seeks a mature, responsible, individual to join the Finance Department as a Financial Analyst. This valued team member will assist the Finance Director and Assistant Finance Director with analysis of the Village’s financial functions.

Key Responsibilities
This important role is responsible for applying principles of accounting in order to prepare and analyze financial information and perform a variety of standard and complex technical accounting, finance, and administrative assignments. The duties and responsibilities listed below may not be inclusive; the listed items are only meant to provide a general idea of the functional responsibilities of the Financial Analyst position.
This position assists the Assistant Finance Director and Finance Director with the annual audit and budget report preparation, grant administration and completing special projects as assigned; prepares special surveys, census financial reports, and annual unclaimed property report; prepares monthly and quarterly reports for the Village’s special events, Veteran’s Commission, permit fees and various road projects; analyzes general ledger accounts on a monthly basis; compiles budget adjustments for approval by the Village Board, enters them into the financial system; and performs Village-wide internal audits on an as needed basis.
Additional responsibilities include assisting in the development of a financial policies and procedures manual; providing back up support to other finance positions as needed; tracking and processing bond payments to ensure correct and timely payment; and maintaining all property files, prepares the quarterly sales tax filing.
Lastly, this position tracks and analyzes capital expenditures throughout the fiscal year, enters capital asset information into financial software, prepares capital asset reports for audits and completes annual property exempt affidavit.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA designation is preferred. Two – five (2 to 5) years of related financial analysis experience is required. Experience in municipal finance/accounting, enterprise financial management systems and advanced level Microsoft Excel skills is strongly preferred. Strong analytical abilities are required, in addition to the ability to maintain confidential information and work as a team. Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines is also required.

The ideal candidate must have well developed interpersonal and oral/written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex numerical data effectively in clear graphic formats to ensure understanding by a non-technical audience. This role will act as the subject matter expert when working directly with members of other departments. This individual will demonstrate strong interactive skills when presenting and training others to use the financial software.
Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this position is $76,969 – $107,754 annually, depending on qualifications. The Village of Orland Park offers a generous and comprehensive employee benefits program which includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and an employee wellness program. Retirement benefits through the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) are provided. The option to participate in a 457(b) plan through Nationwide is also available.
