Financial Analyst (Trainee) 9-P11
This position assists the Minerals Revenue Accountant in the DNR’s State-wide Minerals Revenue Program, which processes approximately $20 million in revenue annually. The Financial Analyst is responsible for providing professional financial analysis, systematic review, and evaluation of financial data related to the Minerals Revenue Program, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP) and effective financial management. This position also supports the accounting, monitoring, and reporting processes within the Minerals Management Section, particularly as they relate to the accuracy and integrity of the Land Ownership Tracking System (LOTS) and other DNR database systems.

Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major with at least 12 semester (18 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: accounting, finance, or economics.

One year of professional experience providing a systematic review, analysis, interpretation, and/or evaluation of budgets, mortgages, loans, or other financial data, equivalent to a Financial Analyst 9, Accountant 9, or Auditor 9.
Financial Analyst P11
Two years of professional experience providing a systematic review, analysis, interpretation, and/or evaluation of budgets, mortgages, loans, or other financial data, equivalent to a Financial Analyst, including one year equivalent to a Financial Analyst 10, Accountant 10, or Auditor 10.
Alternate Education and Experience
Financial Analyst (Departmental Trainee) 9
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and two years of experience as an Accounting Technician E9 and/or 10, Account Examiner E10 and/or 11, Account Examiner Supervisor 12, or Office Supervisor 9-10 (with the bookkeeping subclass code); or, one year of experience as an Account Examiner Supervisor 13, or Office Supervisor 11-12 (with the bookkeeping subclass code).
Educational Substitution-
College credits may be substituted on a proportional basis (one year of college education may substitute for one quarter of the required experience) for up to one half of the required experience.

The work location of this position will be Constitution Hall, Lansing, MI. However, the selected candidate may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule (combination of remote and in-person). Employees approved for schedules that include remote work must complete that work within Michigan. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed. When working remote, employees must use a designated workspace that is safe and professionally appropriate, allows for privacy, minimizes distractions, and includes secure internet access.
