Job Summary: The Financial Authorization Coordinator is responsible for obtaining pre-authorizations from third party insurances and follows appropriate guidelines for processing required by each insurance payer. The incumbent routinely monitors all insurance payer information and updates all pre-authorization requirements and initiates proper protocol for any denials. The Financial Authorization Coordinator assists billing departments on obtaining necessary documentation for appeals and denials and informs appropriate staff on any changes/issues with patients' insurance coverage. The incumbent assists Sr Division Manager with volume initiates. Performs other job related duties as requested.
Specifications: Associates degree required with a minimum of one year experience in an outpatient ambulatory environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience. A working knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, coding, and medical terminology preferred. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills required.
