ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review all self-pay Admissions/Outpatient services admitted within the same day to ascertain and confirm accurate determination of finances.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Knowledge of third party payors, Government agencies regulations, confirm any third party coverage if any.
- Conducts patient interview with patient and / or guarantors in person to include bedside visit, or via telephone, mail correspondence or any other applicable means available to secure answers to questions concerning patient’s account.
- Collects money for down payments, hospital convenience services, as required by federal and state regulations, policies and procedures.
- Refers patients to outside agencies as appropriate in accordance with all regulations, policies and procedures. Follow the rules and regulations to the fullest according to federal and state guidelines.
- Maintains courtesy, tact and business-like demeanor at all times when communicating with representatives of third party agencies, governmental agencies, hospital personnel, and especially patients and/or patient guarantor.
- Understand the mission, vision and values of BTMH and demonstrate individual performance and decision making that support their achievement.
EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS
- High School diploma necessary with some knowledge of third party billing.
- Some knowledge of the State and Federal Regulations concerning Charity Care.
- Knowledge of Confidentiality laws for State of New Jersey and ability to communicate with clients.
EXPERIENCE
- At least 2 years of experience with third party reimbursement and regulations, both federal and state.
- Must become certified for Presumptive Eligibility.
