About the Job
The Financial Reimbursement Specialist is responsible for certain aspects of the monthly close as it relates to accounts receivable, revenue and statistics. This position is key in order to complete annual cost report schedules and will be responsible to act as a back-up for maintaining and updating Axiom Data System. This position will maintain statistics as it relates to DOH weekly reporting and monthly financial and statistical statement reporting.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Gathers data in preparation of the annual Medicare and Medicaid Cost Reports and prepares cost report schedules.
- Responsible for the preparation of the facility’s annual Consolidated Fiscal Report, annual Tricare (Champus) filing, annual DOH capital budgets and 3-year occupational mix data.
- Responsible for the data input into the cost report software.
- Responsible for monthly and annual allowance calculations for the hospitals and the nursing home or be a backup for such.
- Able to work closely with accounting team for month end close and account reconciliations.
- Maintains and populates volume statistics for financial reporting for monthly financials, DOH, cost report, and any other request related to statistics and revenue.
- Responsible for maintaining budgeted volumes and budgeted spread of volumes.
- Back up for maintaining a data analytical system.
- Key person to build reports within the data analytical system in order to handle various data requests from department managers, finance, and executives.
- Prepares special analysis and reports on an as needed basis.
- Prepares surveys and reports to external agencies.
- Responsible for monthly HCRA surcharges.
- Assists in Audit related activities.
- Able to retrieve data using the Axiom database.
- Performs other duties as required to meet the needs of the department.
EXPERIENCE:
- 2-3 years of Accounting experience, required
- Proficiency in Excel, required
- Experience within a hospital setting, preferred
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, required

OTHER:
- Ability to identify, gather and compile pertinent information used to prepare detailed financial, statistical and narrative reports.
- Ability to perform analytical reviews.
- Ability to deal effectively with a wide range of professional, administrative, technical and clerical personnel.
- Ability to effectively use computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, email and database software.
- Ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the essential duties of the position.
