Financial Specialist, Senior

Salary Range: $25.00-$32.00, based on experience and qualifications
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Division of Administration employee. Responsibilities include using accounting theory and practice to ensure the agency applies Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards correctly and consistently. The incumbent will provide support to the Controller’s Office and other agencies throughout the State with their accounting needs.
Job Functions:
Will include some variation of the following functions.
· General oversight of the requisition to payment process: requisitions, purchase orders, accounts payable, and reconciliation.
· Review and approve financial transactions: requisition to payment process, travel plans and expense reimbursements, budgetary, financial plan, and p-card transactions.
· Prepare, process, and reconcile accounts receivable billing statements.
· Complete financial account reconciliations, research errors, and prepare journal entries to process corrections.
· Develop and prepare financial documents.
· Monitor agency cash balances.
· Research and compile financial information and prepare summaries and reports.
· Respond to external compliance and audit requests.
· Review monthly program area financial statements and perform fiscal month-end and year-end closeout functions.
· Inventory and monitor agency assets.
· Analyze and interpret regulations and policies.
Additional Functions:
· Contribute to the positive performance of the Division of Administration and the Controller’s Office.
· Demonstrate timely and consistent attendance. This is an in-office position with the possibly of 2 remote days only and after probationary period is met.
· Any additional duties as assigned by State Controller or their designee.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Strong sense of customer service and professionalism, even in a sometimes-stressful environment.
· Ability and willingness to work as a team member.
· Ability to individually complete assigned tasks and work cooperatively in a team environment.
· Consistent thoroughness, excellent analytical skills, and strong attention to detail.
· Ability to maintain consistent and reliable attendance throughout the regularly scheduled workweek.
· Ability to meet deadlines while being interrupted and to adapt to constantly changing situations.
· Good organizational, problem solving, and prioritization skills.
· Understand and follow best practices to protect sensitive and confidential information such as Social Security numbers and banking information.
· Good understanding of internal control practices and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Three to five years of state of Idaho governmental accounting experience.
· Experience working in an enterprise reporting platform (ERP).
· CGFM certification.
