The Team:
We are the FinOps and Data Governance team. We are dedicated to enabling data-driven decision-making by ensuring accurate, actionable, and accessible data. We are internal support function serving a diverse set of internal customers. Collaborating with stakeholders and data stewards across the organization. Our goal is to deliver the data and insights needed to meet strategic business objectives.
Our FinOps focus is centered on managing and optimizing cloud financial operations with a strong emphasis on cloud cost allocation, resource optimization, and financial forecasting. We monitor, allocate, and optimize cloud costs. We analyze cost data and publish key performance indicators (KPIs) to spotlight actionable cost-saving opportunities. Our team collaborates extensively with cloud providers, finance departments, divisional stakeholders, and IT teams. We also drive the design, implementation, and support of the FinOps Data Lakehouse and reporting infrastructure, ensuring a scalable and transparent financial operations environment.
Our Data Governance focus involves managing critical metadata sets such as the Application, Service & Product Portfolio, Locations, and Cloud Service Accounts. We work closely with data owners, consumers, and stakeholders to establish data quality standards and ensure the accuracy and completeness of metadata, facilitating self-service capabilities.
Responsibilities and Impact:
We are seeking a FinOps Director of Cloud Operations to manage a team, overseeing the monthly cloud cost allocation process, and driving continuous process improvements. This role requires a combination of cloud financial expertise, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure financial accountability and efficiency across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Lead a FinOps Team: Manage a team responsible for cloud cost allocation, ensuring timely and accurate processing while driving improvements to current workflows.
+ Cloud Cost Allocation: Oversee the monthly cloud cost allocation process, ensuring accurate and fair distribution of cloud costs across business units and departments.
+ Financial Discrepancy Resolution: Investigate and resolve discrepancies between Accounts Payable and Cloud Vendor Accounts Receivable, ensuring smooth financial operations, timely payments and resolution of billing disputes.
+ Invoice Management: Oversee invoice classification, quality assurance checks and provide approvals of cloud invoices, ensuring efficient and accurate workflows.
+ Automation Collaboration: Partner with Architecture and Automation teams to define, test, and implement automation requirements aimed at improving cloud cost processes. Address edge cases and recommend changes to enhance future efficiency.
+ Cloud Financial Reporting: Lead the publication of Cloud Governance KPIs, providing key stakeholders with clear insights into cloud financial performance and cost-saving opportunities.
+ Forecasting & Strategic Support: Support cloud financial forecasting efforts, including volumetric analysis and identifying long-term cost trends. Work closely with Finance and IT teams to align cloud spend with business strategy.
+ Supplier Performance Management: Collaborate on business reviews to track supplier performance, ensure cost transparency, and identify areas for cost optimization.
+ Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Procurement, Accounts Payable, and Finance teams to streamline cloud cost management processes and ensure alignment with broader organizational goals.
+ Documentation & Anomaly Tracking: Maintain thorough documentation of notable cost-related events and anomalies, ensuring transparency and facilitating continuous improvement.
Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $130,000 to $230,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.
In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan.

What We’re Looking For:
Basic Required Qualifications:
+ Cloud Financial Management Experience: Demonstrated experience managing cloud costs, including cost allocation, forecasting, and vendor relationship management.
+ Expertise in Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with AWS and Azure billing consoles, with understanding of their pricing structures and optimization strategies.
+ Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex data sets, identify trends, and recommend actionable solutions.
+ Leadership and Collaboration Skills: Experience managing teams and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders, including finance, IT, and procurement.
+ Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail combined with the ability to understand the bigger picture and strategic context.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience with FinOps Tools: Familiarity with cloud cost management tools such as Cloudability, CloudHealth, CloudCheckr or AWS QuickSight CUR dashboards.
+ Automation & Data Tools: Hands-on experience with data analysis and automation tools such as Alteryx, Power BI, or similar.
+ Certifications: FinOps foundation certifications and/or relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals) would be a plus.
