Your Role With The Company:
The Designer will review construction contract documents and coordinate with general contractors/owners to gather the required information to design the project’s fire alarm system. The Designer will design layout of fire alarm systems using AutoCAD program, perform field surveys, and identify code issues and solutions. The Designer will attend coordination and job progress meetings, create materials list for system components. and purchase materials throughout project. The Designer negotiates and manage costs with vendors and suppliers, makes material equipment submittals, submittals to AHJ’s/ owners/ architects/ engineers/ insurance companies, and coordinates with other departments within office to ensure proper handoff of job information.
Background Profile:
- Minimum of five years’ experience performing design work in the Life Safety industry specifically for commercial construction
- Current NICET III Certification
- Current State of Texas Alarm Planners License
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, and various office equipment related to the position
- Proficient in the use of AutoCAD
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to meet deadline
- Strong organizational skill
- Ability to work well with others
- Conflict resolution skills
- Ability to read, interpret, and prepare engineered drawings, specifications, and schematics.
