Job Responsibilities:
Install, repair, test and inspect fire alarm systems along with peripheral equipment. Identifies hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
Diagnose existing systems and be able to trace and repair errors, ground faults, and other conditions impairing the proper operation of the equipment.
Ensure that work is in accordance with all local, state, and federal relevant codes.
Performs other general building maintenance as assigned.
Work in a team environment with the ability to take directions from the division manager.
Be available to be On Call for emergency repairs. These duties are rotated between the Fire Alarm Technicians and are paid at overtime rates.
Job Requirements:
Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in installation, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems and equipment.
Knowledge of applicable building codes, regulations or ordinances.
Ability to operate drills, threader, drill presses, hand drills, hand tools and power tools.
Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner.
Ability to use a computer to perform spreadsheet and form entry.
Ability to use diagnostic program and other applicable diagnostic software and equipment.
Ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
Possess any necessary licensing and certification required by National, State and Local codes.
Minimum 5+ years related experience either in the fire protection/fire alarm industry or the
commercial customer service business.
NICET or equivalent training from manufacturers or institutions a plus.
Working knowledge of NFPA 72 and IFC code.
Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications.
Valid Drivers License.
High School Diploma or GED.
Motor Vehicle check with clean driving record to be able to drive commercial policy vehicles.
