Job Announcement:
Under the direction of the Fire Marshal, the Fire Inspector is responsible for conducting fire inspections for the purpose of correcting potentially hazardous situations, and to comply with established regulatory practices. Employees in this class initiate and participate in various fire prevention programs for the purpose of providing education concerning principles and techniques for preventing fires and acting in emergency situations. May also be responsible for conducting City of Alvin fire investigations to determine the origin and cause. Responds to fire emergencies as needed. Performs related work as directed. Reports to Fire Administrator.
Minimum Qualifications:
Texas Commission on Fire Protection- Inspector I & II Certification required.
Texas Commission on Fire Protection - Arson and Fire Investigator Certification preferred.
Certified Police Officer preferred, or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
Valid state driver's license. Class B exempt within one year.
This position is classified as an "Emergency Essential" position as described in the City of Alvin's Personnel Policy Manual. These employees may be required to remain or respond in the event of emergency conditions and be available immediately before (Pre-Impact), during (Emergency Period), and/or after the disaster or emergency condition (Post Impact/Recovery), to perform duties directly related to the emergency conditions as determined by the City.
Salary:
Hiring hourly rate of: $21.86 - $22.96 DOQ/DOE
