We are currently seeking a Fire Investigator to support operations in our St. Louis, Missouri district office. In this position you will apply your technical knowledge to help assess and determine the origin and cause of fires involving a myriad of incidents including residential, commercial structure, vehicle, and marine fires. Responsibilities:- Gathering photographic and physical evidence.
- Collaborate in multi-disciplinary groups consisting of our Electrical/Structural/Mechanical Engineers.
- Conducting investigations to document onsite conditions and overseeing field- testing.
- This includes scene photography, interviewing witnesses, and evidence/data gathering.
- Preparing oral and written reports that document causes of fire or explosion incident.
- Provide expert testimony via depositions or in a court of law as required.
- Develop client relationships by providing and maintaining the company’s high standard of customer service and client communications.
- Work with local and national marketing managers to establish and grow relationships.
- Multitask; work to meet schedule commitments of multiple assignments.
- Associates Degree in Fire Science and/or 5+ years of experience (fire investigator, firefighter, Law enforcement experience) in related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of fire ground procedures, extinguishment and fire protection systems including fire investigative duties, serving in the capacity of fire fighter, law enforcement specializing in fire origin and cause.
- Experience in fire and explosion investigation and analysis field is a MUST.
- Valid Driver’s License is a must.
- NAFI-CFEI is a minimal certification for consideration of employment
- IAAI-CFI preferred (and/or to be completed in 12 months of employment based on approval).
- Must have current IAAI or comparable transcript identifying education meeting with industry standards NFPA 921 & 1033. (proof that the candidate has maintained current education in the investigative field). Must meet pre-requisite knowledge and Job Performance Requirements - JPR’s contained within the Standard NFPA 1033. (formal education courses, workshops, seminars or professional journals or publications
- Maintained current certifications and course related work as it relates to fire origin and cause.
- Possess strong technical knowledge and understanding processing investigative fire scenes (including but not limited to processing fire scenes, photograph documentation, collection and transporting evidence, strong subrogation understanding, basic fire suppression systems and accept related duties as assigned.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs unassisted and can climb and work off ladders or elevated platforms.
- Can obtain appropriate state licensing (private investigation licensing).
- Rare, but occasionally work will require unusual hours.
- Must be willing to travel.
