The Fire Protection Engineer will be responsible for designing, evaluating, and implementing fire protection systems for various government projects. This role requires expertise in fire safety standards, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Design and Analysis: Develop fire protection system designs, including fire alarms, suppression systems, and smoke control systems, in accordance with applicable codes and standards (NFPA, IFC, etc.).
- Project Support: Provide engineering support for government projects, including technical reviews, site assessments, and design consultations.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all fire protection designs meet local, state, and federal regulations, as well as agency-specific requirements.
- Collaboration: Work closely with architects, contractors, and project managers to integrate fire protection systems into overall project designs.
- Documentation: Prepare detailed engineering reports, specifications, and drawings, ensuring clarity and accuracy for project stakeholders.
- Inspections and Testing: Conduct inspections and testing of fire protection systems to ensure proper installation and operation, and address any deficiencies.
- Training and Support: Provide training and support to clients and stakeholders on fire protection systems and emergency response procedures.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and regulations, and recommend improvements to existing systems and processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in fire protection engineering, preferably with government projects.
- Strong knowledge of fire protection codes, standards, and practices (NFPA, ICC, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in engineering software and tools for fire protection design (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).
