Fire Protection Engineer - Latitude Inc

Responsibilities

• Design and Analysis: Develop fire protection system designs, including fire alarms, suppression systems, and smoke control systems, in accordance with applicable codes and standards (NFPA, IFC, etc.).
• Project Support: Provide engineering support for government projects, including technical reviews, site assessments, and design consultations.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all fire protection designs meet local, state, and federal regulations, as well as agency-specific requirements.
• Collaboration: Work closely with architects, contractors, and project managers to integrate fire protection systems into overall project designs.
• Documentation: Prepare detailed engineering reports, specifications, and drawings, ensuring clarity and accuracy for project stakeholders.
• Inspections and Testing: Conduct inspections and testing of fire protection systems to ensure proper installation and operation, and address any deficiencies.
• Training and Support: Provide training and support to clients and stakeholders on fire protection systems and emergency response procedures.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and regulations, and recommend improvements to existing systems and processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in fire protection engineering, preferably with government projects.
• Strong knowledge of fire protection codes, standards, and practices (NFPA, ICC, etc.).
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Proficiency in engineering software and tools for fire protection design (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).
