About the Job
The general role of the Fire Suppression Technician is to be responsible for the installation of fire suppression equipment including sprinkler systems. This position will also provide a varied skill set for the installation, testing, servicing, repairing and maintenance of electrical and controls hardware, fiber optic cable, and other services as applicable for mining surface and underground facilities as well as for the commercial and industrial industries.
This position will require a flexible schedule that may include extended hours, weekends, holidays, and evenings.
The Fire Suppression Technician will report directly to the Project Manager and will work primarily out of the Evansville location.
What You'll Do:- Assist with the installation of fire suppression systems as the primary responsibility but also assist with electrical and controls hardware, fiber optic cable, and any other applicable services provided by the Evansville Division
- Assist other divisions as/when needed for various services, which could include extensive travel
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, schematics, and operational product manuals
- Prepare associated paperwork and forms for customer service and project activities in a timely manner as required
- Communicate with Project Managers and Project Engineers for daily duties
- Follow proper safety and incident reporting procedures
- Ensure proper communication to the Project Manager on all pertinent issues
- Listen and respond immediately with an appropriate amount of concern to customer and employee issues
- Analyze, solve, and correct customer issues

What You'll Bring:- 1-3 years of experience preferred
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Willing to travel
- Technical/mechanical knowledge and abilities
- Electrical and fiber optic knowledge is a plus
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and schematics
- Must be willing to attend training and remain updated with regard to industry standards and requirements
- MSHA 40-hour underground training required
- Able to read specifications and use measuring tools
- Ability to work underground for extended periods of time
- Able to work well under pressure
- Attention to detail
- Customer service experience preferred
- Able to work a flexible schedule and adjust to changing business needs to include possible work involving emergency call-out, extended hours and some out-of-town, weekend and overnight work
Working Conditions
- Walk / use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls / reach with hands and arms / climb ladders and stairs / crawl / kneel
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Perform duties on-site and underground at industrial locations
- Wear safety equipment: as per OSHA/MSHA requirements including but not limited steel toed and/or metatarsal shoes, hard hat, lanyard, fire retardant, protective eye wear, etc.
- Be safety and customer-focused, without exception
