Loyal Source Government Services is looking for a Fire Technician to work throughout the 7 cities area of Virginia (Williamsburg, Suffolk, Hampton, Newport News, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Norfolk)
Job Summary:
The Fire Alarm Technician is responsible for the installation, programming, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of fire alarm systems, with additional support provided for security components. This role ensures fire and security system installations meet regulatory compliance, quality standards, and customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Fire Alarm Technician (Primary):
· System Installation & Programming: Install, program, and test fire alarm and life safety systems, including control panels, detectors, alarms, and emergency communication devices, to ensure compliance with NFPA codes and local fire safety regulations.
· Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Diagnose, maintain, and repair fire alarm systems to ensure reliable operation. Perform corrective actions to ensure system compliance with all applicable fire codes and standards.
· Code Compliance: Stay current on national and local fire codes (NFPA) and apply this knowledge in all fire system installations and troubleshooting.
· Testing & Inspection: Regularly test and inspect fire alarm systems to verify that they meet performance standards and regulatory requirements. Conduct high-quality testing to ensure full compliance and functionality.
· Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate records of installations, inspections, testing, and repairs. Adhere to standard operating procedures for business operations, safety, and regulatory compliance.
· Customer Interaction: Serve as a reliable contact for field operations with customer representatives. Provide professional customer support and training as required, fostering strong relationships with customers and vendors.
Secondary Responsibilities: Security Technician:
· Security System Installation & Cabling: Support the installation of low voltage electronic security systems, including access control, surveillance, intrusion detection (IDS), and alarm systems.
· System Integration & Programming: Participate in the configuration of servers, workstations, panels, and other programmable components for IDS, ACS, CCTV, and Fire/Life Safety Systems.
· Troubleshooting & Sustainment: Assist with troubleshooting and repair of security systems, ensuring all components meet operational standards and customer requirements.
Additional Duties:
· System Raceway & Cabling: Install system raceway and cabling for both fire and security systems, ensuring the correct termination, testing, and secure mounting of components.
· Equipment Verification: Verify the status of equipment racks, enclosures, panels, and all mounting hardware for fire and security systems.
· Compliance & Professionalism: Adhere to all state and federal laws regarding safety, health, and fire codes. Represent the company professionally, ensuring compliance with company standards and procedures.
Requirements:
· 3+ years of relevant work experience required.
· NICET Certification a plus.
· DMP certification a plus.
· Current DCJS registration or willing to obtain within 60 days.
· Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others.
· Excellent communication and time management skills.
