Job Summary and Qualifications: First Assist Vein Harvest Full-Time
As a First Assist Vein Harvester (FA-VH) you will be specializing in Cardiothoracic Surgery. You will provide immediate support and assistance to the CV surgeon during procedures and helps the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the surgical patient. The FA-VH provides assistance under the direction and supervision of the surgeon in accordance with hospital policy, level of training, and appropriate laws and regulations.
· You will review the upcoming surgical schedule and assist the Tech Service Specialist in ensuring physician preference cards are updated on a regular basis and act as a liaison for the surgeons in implementation of new products and equipment.
· You will coordinates with the sales reps to ensure proper equipment and supplies are available for upcoming cases. You will keep all team members informed of upcoming cases and needs.
· You will gathers data and ensure that data entered into STS is accurate and timely.
· You are the content expert for the CVOR specialties and act as a resource to the rest of the staff and the surgeons.
· You will participate in the quality improvement activities and gathering of metrics to keep service performing at the highest level; in conjunction with RN and Tech Service Specialists plans and participates in service-specific team meetings and trainings.
· You will create a positive learning environment and assist with orientation of other team members and serves as a preceptor to new FA staff members or students.
· You will be responsible for formulation and updating protocols for specialty in coordination with RN and Tech Service Specialists.
· You will foster positive physician relationships and quality care within service areas.
What qualifications you will need:
· American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) Certification.
· Surgical Technologist Certificate (CST) and Certified Surgical Technologist First Assist (CSFA) and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or equivalent required. Must maintain required education and certification.
· Completion of surgical technologist course preferred.
· Minimum of two (2) Years of experience required, must have 200 verified patients during the past 12 months, or demonstrated completion of training within the past 12 months
