Position Summary
- Supports production operations to meet production schedule dates through effective die preparation and maintenance activities. Provides timely, effective completion of prototype and special project tooling jobs.
Responsibility / Duties
- Journeyman certified Tool & Die maker proficient in the use of lathes, millers, shapers, grinders, punch presses, blue print reading, and use of all types of measuring and related equipment.
- Performs maintenance or repair progressive stamping dies, fixtures, and gauges with details from the CAD database.
- Trouble shoots dies in the tool room or in the press.
- Interact with Engineering, Manufacturing, or other employees to construct and repair new or existing dies.
- Provides diagnosis of die repair requirements, damage, and solutions to dimensional problems with stamping dies.
- Ensure quality workmanship and dimensional accuracy of assigned work.
- Maintain neat, organized work area. Work with co-workers to maintain housekeeping and safety practices of entire shop consistently.
Education and/or Experience
- Journeyman certification with apprenticeship complete.
- Associate of Science (AS) degree in technical discipline desired.
Physical Requirements
- Work performed in factory settings.
- Exposure to shop environment such as noise, dust, odors and fumes.
- Occasionally required to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about facilities.
Work Environment
This position requires the use of personal protective equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
