Job Title: Fitness Floor Attendant I (Club Fitness)
Department: Fitness
Reports to: Club Fitness Manager
Job Class: Part-time, non-exempt, IMRF ineligible
Work Hours: Variable schedule, up to 19 hours per week
Compensation: $15.00 an hour
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Lead Trainer, the Fitness Floor Attendant I is responsible for assisting members of Club Fitness with basic fitness equipment instruction and use, lift spotting, and ensuring area cleanliness. In addition, this position requires a strong ability to engage with members and Club Fitness staff. Must be self-motivated and possess strong time management skills.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist Club Fitness center members with the proper technique and usage of exercise equipment including maintaining the proper technique and usage of all free weight, sectorized equipment, and cardiovascular equipment.
- Maintain communication links with Club Fitness Center members. (Greet them, ask how they are doing, engage in conversation) Initiate contact opportunities.
- Ensure cleanliness of the fitness center (Sectional Duties - Exercise floor, equipment, towels, etc.)
- Conduct prospective member tours of the fitness area/facility.
- Adhere to all departmental and Park District policies and procedures.
- Adhere to all Club Fitness Center policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Secondary Duties & Responsibilities
- Attends and contributes to required staff meetings.
- Assist other staff with fitness center duties, as needed.
- Prepares and proofreads Club Fitness Center-related seasonal materials and information for the Park District brochure and website.
- Assists with any emergency procedures and facility evacuations as needed.
- Troubleshoot issues and problems associated with Club Fitness Center customer service and memberships.
- Available for other duties as assigned and/or needed.

- Ability to work independently in day-to-day operations with the general direction of the Club Fitness Lead Trainer and/or Club Fitness Manager.

Required Qualifications
- Must be 16 years of age.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must be CPR and AED certified within six (6) months of hiring. (District provided)
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred experience as a Fitness Floor Attendant.
- Preferred basic knowledge of proper training techniques in equipment and exercise instruction, and safety standards.
Environmental & Physical Demands
- Will operate and handle assigned equipment.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must have the physical agility to maintain mobility in Club Fitness and be able to perform moderate manual tasks.
- May perform duties which include, but are not limited to prolonged lifting, standing, stooping, bending, twisting, and climbing for extended periods.
