Township of Pine Community Center is seeking a Part Time Fitness Scheduling Assistant!
Up to 28 Hours Weekly;
Flexible Schedule, Monday - Friday;
Able To Teach Fitness Classes

Purpose:
To promote health and wellness as a representative of parks and recreation at the Pine Community Center by collaborating with the recreation program leadership team to coordinate group fitness and personal training offerings within the parks and recreation department while ensuring accurate and well-coordinated monthly fitness schedules.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Fitness Scheduling Assistant:
- Coordinates regular schedules for personal trainers, fitness instructors, and substitute staffing needs that includes sudden changes, replacements or reassignments to accommodate daily scheduled activities and programs;
- Assists with cancellation and rescheduling of fitness classes;
- Teaches and/or provides coverage to Fitness scheduled classes - Also refer to Fitness Instructor Essential Duties and Responsibilities;
- Monitors and tracks required certifications of part-time fitness staff;
- Participates in recruitment events of fitness team members;
- Conducts new-hire and/or annual training for fitness and/or personal training team;
- Ability to work flexible schedule as needed based upon demand.
- Able to provide professional critique or discussion with guests, of all ages, regarding forementioned rules and regulations;
- Collaborate with injured team/center members and leadership to accurately, timely and thoroughly complete incident reports;
- Communicate with leadership, regularly, on staffing, events, safety concerns, equipment failure, supply shortage, incidents, observe, witness to inappropriate behavior, or other;
- Maintains confidentiality and exposure to sensitive events, members, customers, visitors, employees, corporate sensitive information, etc;
- Develop and maintains a positive relationships with key community stakeholders and center guests;
- Ability to adapt to changing work situations or assignments;
- Participate in company training, committees and meetings;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Fitness Instructor:
- Maintain surveillance of participants in your class, know their whereabouts and safety levels at all times;
- Teach activities and skills according to level of class being taught and provide alternatives for students needing modifications;
- Start and end class on time, and have equipment to be used during class prepared before the start of class;
- Recognize potential hazards, communicate and eliminate hazards relative to program and program areas;
- Engage in marketing and social media outreach and participate in events to gain a loyal following of Fitness members;
- Act as a brand ambassador for Pine Township & The Community Center;
- Responsible for cleaning, organizing, prepping, deconstructing class area;
- Willingness to perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities - Fitness Instructor:
- Arrive promptly, prepared, and ready to begin the workday;
- A willingness to work a flexible schedule that may include early morning, late evening and weekend hours as needed;
- Communicates regularly with leadership, regarding events during shift, safety concerns, equipment failure, supply shortage, incidents, observe or witness to inappropriate behavior, unethical activity or other;
- Ensure opening and closing procedures are adhered to for the safety of internal and external customers;
- Adhere to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards;
- Positive, regular presence and interaction among members, stakeholders, staff, program participants, Park visitors - presence and interaction to include weekends, evenings and events;
- Participate in events as scheduled or required;
- Maintains confidentiality with sensitive events, members, customers, visitors, employees, corporate sensitive information, etc.
- Ability to adapt to changing work situations or assignments.
- Participate in company training, committees and meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age;
- Possess a valid Group Fitness Certification and/or applicable specialty certification such as ACE Group Exercise, AFFA Group Fitness, Spinning or similar certifications;
- Experience teaching a variety of fitness classes;
- Experience working as a personal trainer preferred, not required;
- Customer service experience in the health and wellness, non-profit, or community center setting preferred, not required;
- Obtain First Aid and CPR Certification within 1 month of hire.

- PA Child Abuse History Clearance
- PA Criminal Background Check Clearance
- Mandated Reporter Certification
- Current CPR Certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Current First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)

- Written, hearing and oral communication skills; observe and interpret situations;
- Communicate with Township colleagues, guests and public of all ages from infant to geriatric;
- Work with constant interruptions;
- Able to multi-task and quickly adapt to unexpected task or schedule change;
