About the Job
- Fitter Welder Apprentice will have the ability to apply minimum of 6 months of MIG welding experience into product.
- Operate Miller Aluma Pro Mig gun. Successfully apply fit up, fabricate, and weld discipline into standard models.
- Operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as GMAW and Plasma Cutter.
- Operate manual and semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment.
- Maintain safe work practices.
- Conduct technical inspections.
- Prepare input for various management and log reports.
- Read and review blueprints and specifications; ensure drawings and specifications will function as designed in environment intended for use.
- Ensure accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects.
- Keep detailed and accurate reports and documentation.
- Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance, and repair/rework techniques.
- Complete motor coupling installations.
- Participate in training program as trainee/trainer as required.
- Practice and promote 5S throughout facility.
- Participate in kaizen events.
- Other assigned work as required.
- Have successfully passed 2G plate welding test and 6G short arc pipe welding test within Johnson Controls - San Antonio.
- The use of various hand tools, machinery and equipment will be required to manufacture metal.
- Standard blueprint knowledge.
- This position will work with supervisors and leadman to ensure continuous improvements in work cells, hitting quotas, welding according to pre-set parameters using GMAW welding processes.
- The ability to scan in and out of work orders is a must.
- The Welder will be required to have strong knowledge and skill in operating all metalworking machinery.
- Additionally, the Welder will be required to read and understand production drawings, blueprints, work orders and other written instructions.
- Minimum of 6 months of MIG Alloy and Steel welding experience.
