We are seeking a Fixed Asset Accountant to join our finance team in West Houston. This role is crucial in managing the company’s fixed assets, ensuring accurate accounting, and supporting capital expenditure decisions. The ideal candidate will have a background in fixed asset accounting within a manufacturing environment, with the ability to manage the lifecycle of assets from acquisition to disposal.
Key Responsibilities:
Fixed Asset Management:
- Oversee the accounting for all fixed assets, including tracking acquisitions, disposals, and transfers.
- Maintain the fixed asset ledger, ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions.
- Calculate and record depreciation for all fixed assets in accordance with company policies and GAAP.
- Conduct regular physical audits of fixed assets to ensure records align with actual assets.
Capital Expenditure (CapEx) Reporting:
- Monitor and report on capital expenditures, ensuring compliance with budgetary guidelines.
- Assist in the preparation of CapEx budgets and forecasts, providing detailed analysis and reporting.
- Work closely with the operations and engineering teams to track manufacturing costs.
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports related to fixed assets and capital expenditures.
- Analyze fixed asset data and provide insights to support financial decision-making.
- Assist in the month-end closing process, including reconciliation of fixed asset accounts and preparation of journal entries.
Compliance & Audit Support:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, including GAAP, and company policies related to fixed assets.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and analysis related to fixed assets.
- Assist in the development and implementation of fixed asset accounting policies and procedures.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in fixed asset management and reporting.
- Implement best practices to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of fixed asset accounting.
- Collaborate with IT and operations teams to optimize the use of technology in fixed asset tracking and reporting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1+ years of experience in fixed asset accounting ideally within a manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of fixed asset accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems).
- Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
