We are currently looking for a Fixed Income Analyst and Developer for our Piper Sandler Financial Strategies group (PSFS) in New York, NY.
The Piper Sandler Financial Strategies group (PSFS) is passionate about understanding our clients' needs and utilizing our intellectual capital to develop differentiated portfolio advisory services. We draw upon our expertise in macroeconomics, strategy, and fixed income securities, along with comprehensive modeling capabilities of assets, liabilities, and interest rate derivatives to develop appropriate strategies. We partner with a wide variety of banks and credit unions to provide in-depth portfolio analysis and advisory services, ideas, market research, and customized cash flow analysis.
The analyst position is a unique opportunity to join a growing team while assisting in the development of client and market strategies and managing daily and ongoing analytics for the group. The analyst will gain an understanding of the various strategies employed by the group and develop advanced knowledge of fixed income markets and balance sheets. In addition, the analyst will utilize a variety of technical skills, including working with programming languages, software development tools, and databases. The analyst will assist in supporting and developing in-house software solutions that add efficiencies for the team and broader business unit.
Other responsibilities include:
- Support senior strategists, coordinate with sales force and liaise with trading desk to develop professional reports and strategies for client presentation
- Demonstrate understanding of fixed income, derivatives, economic, market and sector conditions, as well as bond accounting, regulatory, and overall balance sheet issues
- Model peer analysis and balance sheet data for financial institutions
- Maintain client portfolios and strategies through updating, pricing, generating reports, and generate trade ideas in a timely manner
- Facilitate processes and procedures to successfully support the needs of the group
Qualifications include:
- 1+ years of experience in financial services; analytic background strongly preferred
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, math, financial engineering, computer science, or related field
- Excellent verbal, written and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail
- Self-starter with strong organizational and workflow management skills
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team
- Strong Excel modelling skills a plus
- Exposure to database environments (MSSQL, Oracle, etc.)
- Exposure to software design and various programming languages (C#, Python, JavaScript, VBA, SQL, etc.)
- Demonstrated interest in fixed income markets and products, financial markets, and economics
- FINRA Series 7, 63 & SIE licenses (or willingness to obtain within 120 days)
- Desire to work toward MBA or CFA a plus

The anticipated starting salary range for New York City-based individuals expressing interest in this position is $75,000 - $95,000 per year. Placement within this range is dependent upon level of experience. This position is eligible for annual incentive compensation which will be a part of the total compensation. Total compensation for this position will be competitive with the market.
