Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update vehicle & equipment inventory, inspections, and registration
- Manage vehicle GPS software and vehicle violations
- Serves as a resource to management; acts as a liaison with external regulatory agencies, fleet vendors, fleet maintenance vendors, and fleet-related organizations
- Manage transportation of vehicles to and from shops
- Establish vendors for repairs, parts, maintenance and shop supplies
- Plan, facilitate and direct fleet maintenance and repairs through area resources and vendors
- Utilize and monitor telematics system for vehicle performance and repairs
- Maintain and utilize the fleet data program to facilitate work-orders and critical asset data
- Respond to truck-down situations
- Maintain inventory of vehicles, equipment and tooling
- Manage fleet compliance – DOT, ANSI, licensing, registration, inspections
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of related work experience, i.e., Safety Manager or comparable role in underground construction, utilities and/or pipeline industry
- 2+ years of fleet management experience
- Thorough knowledge of relevant OSHA and DOT federal regulations, including FMCSA and PMSHA, as well as state and local safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Expertise in construction safety best practices.
- Proficiency in risk assessment and root cause analysis methodologies.
- Sound understanding of fleet management, maintenance, and repairs.
- Willingness and ability to travel out of town as required by project and location needs.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and cloud-based tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
- Must be able to tolerate working outside in all weather conditions when on job sites
- Bachelor's degree in related-field
- Certifications include Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM), Certified Public Fleet Professional (CPFP)
- Strong organizational, written, verbal, and time management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, educate, and motivate employees at all levels, including implementing new safety and fleet policies and procedures.
- Effective communication and collaboration with regulatory agencies, customers, and vendors.
