Job Summary:
The Fleet Manager oversees the repair, maintenance and management of fleet vehicles, which includes ensuring DOT compliance and that quality and safety standards are met. This position supervises the Fleet staff. Reports to the General Manager.

Essential Functions:
- Hire, train and supervise the Fleet staff to ensure quality and safety standards are continually met in a timely manner.
- Oversee the repair and maintenance of fleet vehicles in accordance with DOT regulations, federal and state law, manufacturing requirements and industry quality standards. Troubleshoot, diagnose and supervise repairs and regular preventive maintenance. The position also requires operating vehicles to perform road tests of vehicles and operators.
- Ensure accurate documentation such as DOT, repair orders, inspections, PM scheduling and inventory.
- Repair and maintain hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, PC, AC, power trains, engines, brakes, electrical, fuel and other automotive systems.
- Answer and resolve daily maintenance requests in a timely fashion, so that minimal down-time is experienced and operational processes are continually improved.
- Work with all plant personnel in a cooperative and professional manner.
- Strictly adhere to all safety rules, policies and procedures required by Alsco, law, and also recognized as common practice in the industry. Keep work areas clean, organized and safe.
- Remain current on equipment and repair procedures, as well as keeping the Fleet Staff likewise.
- Keep accurate and timely records of maintenance performed.
- Follow written and verbal instructions. Perform other tasks as directed by supervision.
Additional Functions:
- Drive and pick up parts, transport parts or vehicles, etc.
- May work with and support other plant personnel and perform other functions as - required by supervision.
Qualifications:
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English, ability to comprehend and follow direction, perform basic math, good time management skills and be a team leader.
- Minimum of two years experience as a Fleet Manager.
- Have and maintain a valid Class A driver’s license and a record free of chargeable accidents, speeding or safety violations.
- Minimum of three years automotive repair and maintenance experience, working on fleet vehicles, with specific knowledge of large transport mechanics.
- Some Alsco locations may require the Fleet Manager to have their own tools.
Education:
- High School graduation or similar experience.
- Successful completion of Class A driving school.
- Some Alsco locations may require certifications such as an ASE certification, or have completed an approved auto mechanics Vo-Tech program or equivalent.
Typical Physical Activity:
- Physical Demands/Requirements during the shift - Standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, kneeling, working in confined areas, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling, grasping, lifting and carrying up to 100 lbs., driving, sitting, writing, speaking and hearing.
Typical Environmental Conditions:
- Inside and outside areas of fleet vehicles, which includes working with and around automotive fluids and chemicals, large machinery or tools. Includes public roadways while driving the vehicles.
Travel Requirements:
- Occasional, such as to procure parts or transport vehicles.
