DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
Physical Planning, Development & Operations (PPDO) manages and oversees all University activities and services related to physical and environmental planning, design and construction, engineering, physical plant maintenance and operations, capital and space planning, space management, and the associated business services necessary to support these functions. The University's main campus is spread across more than 2,000 acres and includes over 500 buildings comprising more than 8 million square feet. The department includes operating budgets of over $60 million, manages a project portfolio of approximately $990 million, and employs over 395 full-time staff to carry forth the duties necessary for the campus' development and operation.

JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Fleet Services Administrative Supervisor, the Fleet Analyst provides data analysis and maintenance to Fleet Services and our customer departments to support fleet electrification and general business operations. This position provides oversight of fleet data acquisition, error detection, data quality processing, and reporting. This position supports Fleet Services processes related to compliance, sustainability, and business efficiency. A key aspect in this customer service role is communication and clear and concise resolution of issues, with an emphasis on positive customer experience.
APPOINTMENT INFORMATION
Budgeted Salary: $32.74 - $40.00 / Hourly. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience.
Under California law, the University of California, Santa Cruz is required to post a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. The salary shown above is the budgeted amount the University reasonably expects to pay and the salary extended should not exceed this posted amount.

JOB DUTIES
50% - Fleet Data Integration & Analysis
- Oversees intake and integration of data from various sources, such as multiple SQL databases, customer surveys, websites, and telematic systems.
- Analyzes and conducts periodic reviews of data for accuracy and completeness.
- Designs and maintains digital projects, such as physical parts inventory systems, accounts payable/receivable, and various business processes.
- Develops and adjusts data streams to support Fleet operations and the mission of the University.
30% - Reporting
- Generates various reports used in fleet electrification, customer service, and overall business efficiency efforts.
- Reports and presents on UC Carbon Neutrality Initiative and associated policies, regulatory compliance, operational planning, customer service, and any additional reporting that is required by the campus.
10% - Customer Support
- Works with campus staff and outside groups to provide, troubleshoot, and communicate information related to electrification, operations, finances, and ad hoc requests.
- Provides clear and concise resolution of customer service issues, with an emphasis on positive customer experience.
10% - Training
- Trains, mentors, and coordinates the work of a student employee.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff verbally.
- Demonstrated ability to write clear and concise reports. Solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff in writing.
- General knowledge of data analysis using spreadsheets, database software, and logical methods and processes. Experience generating graphs, tables, and charts using common software tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Crystal Reports, or related software).
- Demonstrated ability to learn, understand and utilize organizational rules and regulations to conduct daily work.
- Ability to creatively solve problems without direct supervision, to work independently and effectively set priorities and tasks based on direction given to them by management. Ability to show initiative.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to provide good judgment in decision-making and problem-solving. Demonstrates a methodical approach to solving problems.
- Experience working in small groups to complete projects on time and with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of, and comfortability with, mathematical expressions and engineering units.
- Ability to manipulate data with accuracy and proficiency.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work harmoniously with a diverse group of individuals and implement a customer service approach, with a commitment to high ethical standards.
- Ability to incorporate the concepts of sustainability into daily work efforts.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with SQL and other relational databases.
- Experience with WYSIWYG website editing software.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check.
- Ability to travel to multiple work locations on and off campus.
- Must possess a valid driver's license in the state of California and be able to participate in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) pull notice program.
- Ability to work long periods of time at a computer with or without accommodation.
- The selected candidate has the option to work a hybrid work schedule. If a hybrid work schedule is confirmed, the selected candidate must be able to work successfully from a home/remote office and be able to fulfill the requirements of the UCSC telecommuting agreement.
- Selected candidate will be required to complete training within established time frames as directed including UC compliance training.
