You will be involved in designing flight software for future space systems, operating in both orbital and deep space environments. As part of a small and passionate team, you will contribute to developing fault-tolerant flight software that controls a cutting-edge space system, providing innovative space station services for Blue Origin Orbital Reef and NASA Commercial Destination Free Flyer (CDFF) program. Your work will involve defining architectures, collaborating with multi-functional teams, and ensuring development and verification. If you’re excited by solving novel problems, learning about interesting topics, and completing challenging activities, please apply!Responsibilities:Develop subsystem management and Control application flight software for autonomous and commanded operationsSupport the design and development of flight software functional architecture for orbital space systemCollaborate with multi-functional collaborators to define software concepts of operations, functions, and requirements.Author unit tests, documentation, and participate in design and code reviewsIntegrate subsystem management and Control applications with vehicle management applicationsDevelop and run unit tests, validate on cross-platform software testbed Hardware-in-the-Loop and simulator environmentParticipate in design and code reviews, and status reportingPresent flight software designs for subsystem management at design and achievement reviewsImplement a flight software demonstration to highlight breakthroughs for partners and customers.Minimum Qualifications:B.S. degree in computer science, computer engineering, computing robotics, or closely related field.4+ years of relevant experienceDemonstrated Software development skills in real-time embedded systems, particularly in C/C++Breadth and depth of understanding of real-time embedded software development conceptsExperience in build automation, continuous integration, configuration management, verification, deployment of software.Strong debugging skills at the software/hardware boundary.Experience with real time operating systems, such as VxWorks, Integrity, Embedded Linux or equivalentHands-on and theoretical understanding of software and computational science principles, concepts, algorithms, and engineering beyond tool useMust be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.Preferred Qualifications:6+ years of real-time embedded flight software design and development experience.Strong understanding of applied and theoretical software and computational science principles, concepts, algorithms, and engineering beyond tool useExperience working on avionics, satellite, space flight systems, or robotic systemsExperience in life cycle software development of real-time embedded system, including at least software design, development, and verification.Experience with real time operating systems, such as VxWorks, Integrity, Embedded Linux or equivalent.Understanding of low-level software for spacecraft system and subsystem functions, interfaces, communication protocols (serial, 1553, Ethernet)Experience with cross-platform development and hardware-in-the-loop testbed lab environmentsExperience in developing safety critical products using DO-178, NPR 7150.2, or other safety-critical software standards.Compensation Range for:CA applicants is $141,480.00-$198,072.00;CO applicants is $129,690.00-$181,566.00;WA applicants is $141,480.00-$198,072.00Other site ranges may differApplications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.Inclusivity StatementDon’t meet all desired requirements?
