JOB DESCRIPTION: Float Cook
Full-time: 40 hours/week
Rotating weekends and major holidays
JOB SUMMARY: The Float Cook assists and learns the job roles of the Breakfast, AM, and PM Cook and the AM clerk. Acts as a substitute for these positions to assist the other kitchen staff and ensure an organized and well-functioning work environment. Other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Reviews menus for Meals-On-Wheels and hospital meals to prepare and organize services in a timely manner.
2. Monitors adjustments in patient dietary information to update current records and adjust services accordingly.
3. Coordinates and assists other kitchen staff with meal preparation, serving, and distribution for the Hospital and Meals-On-Wheels to support and ensure a productive work environment.
4. Operates and monitors kitchen appliances to maintain temperature, environment, and food storage safety and prevent food waste.
5. Executes and maintains a clean workspace to ensure a food safe environment.
6. Assists in organizing and arranging delivered goods to maintain an organized and efficient workspace.
7. Works well under pressure and can multitask, abilities to switch tasks at a short notice.
OTHER SKILLS:
1. Works well in a team setting.
2. Abilities to perform using basic math skills.
3. Implements effective communication skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Licensure/Certifications:
· Some High schooling; must be at least 16 years of age, 18+ to operate kitchen equipment.
Experience:
· Food service preferred, but not required
