Overview:
The Float Director of Nursing (DON) functions in the full capacity of a community clinical leader and is responsible for leading, delegating, planning, organizing, staffing, directing, analyzing and evaluating the nursing services of an assigned housing/assisted living community. The Float DON is responsible for supervising assigned nursing and ancillary departments to ensure services that meet practice and quality standards. Ensure Benedictine policy, procedures and programs are implemented and followed.
May be assigned roles with varying levels of leadership within housing/assisted living facilities. This position may require extended travel and may require additional hours of work on evenings and weekends outside of their normal schedule. This position may be temporarily assigned to any Benedictine community in the states that Benedictine serves.
Responsibilities:KEY RESULT AREAS/Essential Functions of the Job
- Provides administrative, clinical leadership and delegation of tasks for nursing staff to promote the delivery of quality care. Maintains knowledge base of current standards of nursing practices, and implements Benedictine nursing policies, procedures and programs.
- Creates, supports and facilitates person-centered care plans and resident/client-directed care and services. Responsible to align training and services to Benedictine Standards and protocols.
- Adheres to the department budget to promote appropriate utilization of resources. Adjusts the staffing hours based on acuity, census, and service plans/care plans and establishes staffing patterns. Negotiates with payers for appropriate service plans or service payments needed to meet resident needs.
- Directs the hiring, evaluation, counseling, and termination of nursing department associates under the direction of the Executive Director, while following human resources standards and affirmative action laws.
- Ensured that clinical staff development programs are in place to meet regulatory, clinical and staff needs.
- Fosters a culture of quality assurance performance improvement (QAPI). Develops, implements, and evaluates the nursing department quality assurance program.
- Responsible for resident and family satisfaction, staff engagement, safety and risk management as well as clinical quality measures.
- Responsible to manage a survey, conduct investigations and fill all reports as required with regulators.
- Implements and maintains policies and procedures to promote compliance with all current regulations and nursing standards.
- Serves as a liaison with Benedictine regional leadership, community groups, payers, vendors, general public, and other health care providers including medical directors.
- Attends Benedictine Director of Nursing events, calls, trainings and meetings associated with assigned role.
- Regularly provides progress updates, concerns and identified support needs to the Executive Director of the community in which they service, the Regional Clinical Services Team and the Vice Presidents of Clinical, Housing and Operations.
- Accepts assigned community, clinical leadership role or duties associated with assigned role.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse in States served or assigned
- CPR certified
- Five (5) years of RN experience as a clinical leader or Director of Nursing in skilled nursing facility or housing/assisted living or in combination with similar background in Home Care, Hospice, and/or community-based services

Salary Range:$55.30-$60.10
