SUMMARY:
Perform Floor Technician duties at Kennedy Space Center in an efficient and effective manner. Reports to the site leadership team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The list of essential functions below is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this job. Other duties may be assigned based on business need.
- Perform specified floor custodial work according to time schedules which may include:
- mopping floors
- polishing, stripping, and waxing floors
- shampooing carpets
- May be required to move furniture when performing floor custodial work.
- Maintain supplies and equipment under established procedures.
- Workdays and hours may vary depending on operational needs.
- Perform other specified floor custodial tasks as requested.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Six months’ experience with floor care work.
- Must be able to pass a background screening for access to the work areas.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two years' experience with floor care work preferred.

- Good communication skills (e.g., able to effectively respond to common inquiries or complaints).
- Able to follow basic instructions and guidance with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Reasoning Ability: Able to identify issues or problems, evaluate and draw valid conclusions.
- Attentive to detail for quality performance.
- If required to drive, a current driver’s license and clean driving record are required. May be required to drive the personal vehicle during work hours. Not all individuals will have to drive for this position.
SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- Tasks are regularly performed in both climate-controlled areas and areas that have no air conditioning or heat with possible exposure to adverse environmental conditions (e.g., dirt, heat, cold, rain, fumes).
- Will need to use any personal protective (safety) equipment as designated properly and consistently.
- Involves exposure to hazardous materials (i.e., cleaning solutions and bio-waste hazards).
- Required inoculations and training provided by the company.
- Some tasks may be performed independently with little supervision.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requirements will vary depending on the assigned tasks. This position does require the following: repetitive lifting, push/pull, carrying, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, and prolonged standing. Will involve lifting/moving up to 40 pounds. These requirements can be met with or without reasonable accommodation.
WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE (IF APPLICABLE)
Must be authorized to access and work on government installations.
SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Some tasks require manual dexterity, In addition to visual and hearing acuity.
Availability:
Full Time: $23.34/Hour
Shift Time: Hours are Mon-Fri, 3:30 pm - midnight with flexibility for weekends and days as needed, 32 hours/week.
