Summary: The Applications Engineer provides pre-sale and post-sale technical support to internal and external customers.
Key performance objectives in order of priority with projected time allocation include:
Serving as a technical resource and providing presale support to develop customer solutions by gathering critical information to define the scope of the project.

Troubleshooting existing customer equipment and providing post-sale technical support/evaluation to ensure the success of customer applications and earn the opportunity for repeat business.

Responding to internal inquiries from the extended team to provide crossover support and product selection.
10%
Note: Ten percent of time is reserved for ancillary responsibilities, interruptions, and unplanned activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The responsibilities listed are fundamental to the position and must be performed successfully to achieve the key performance objectives of the role. Other responsibilities may be assigned.
Interpersonal Responsibilities
Builds relationships both internally within the company and externally with vendors to facilitate product training and leverage their expertise.
Fosters an environment of collaboration, proactively asking questions and sharing information and best practices.
Operational Responsibilities
Assists sales representatives and project engineers with interpreting customer requirements, identifying application design criteria and evaluating the feasibility of delivering compelling customer solutions that lead to winning new business opportunities.
Actively calls on designated target accounts in conjunction with assigned sales representative to identify and secure new solutions-based business opportunities.
Provides pre-sale support including application planning, specifying complete software/hardware component direction and schematic design.
Prepares designs and quotations for the variety of products/systems offered by the company based upon customer specifications/requirements and generally accepted industry standards.
Performs detailed calculations using excel and/or vendor supplied software.
Produces circuit diagrams, mechanical layout/assembly drawings and simulations using Solidworks, DraftSight and Automation Studio.
May consult with supplier territory managers and/or company product managers on application designs, special pricing agreements and lead times.
Collaborates with the Mobile Service Team on developing application quotes and/or referring sales leads for onsite services.
Provides training to engineers and maintenance personnel through onsite seminars and remote webinars.
Maintains and improves mechanical and electrical instruments and troubleshooting equipment for mobile and/or industrial applications.
Provides post sale support including startup troubleshooting assistance, network commissioning assistance, and overall integration assistance.
Inspects completed installations and observes operation, to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards.
Provides internal and external technical support through email, ticket portal and/or online chat box.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or experience that outweighs education
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of related experience
Strong working knowledge of Industrial hydraulics is required. Knowledge of mobile hydraulics, electro-hydraulics and/or other related fluid power technologies is a plus.
Demonstrated computer skills (MS Word & Excel, Solidworks, DraftSight or other 2D CAD.
Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and/or general engineering related skillsets.
Professional communication in person and by phone and email with colleagues, suppliers, and customers.
Self-management skills including note taking, personal action item lists and good time management.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Attention to detail and overall appreciation of quality of work.
