FOH Manager - Smokin J's BBQ

Smokin’ J’s BBQ is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual with experience as a manager or assistant manager to oversee the FOH operations of our newest location in Downtown San Diego. As the FOH Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the front of house and the delivery of excellent customer service. You will work closely with the Owners, Chef, Bar Lead, and other departments to create a vibrant and successful dining experience for our guests. 

Pay is $18-20/hr BOE plus tips (typically avg. $6-8/hr).

Job duties

● Becoming an expert with the Toast POS system as well as all online ordering platforms

● Implement and oversee all opening and closing operating procedures

• Becoming an expert at each role of front of house and leading by example while working the floor. 

● Manage and mentor the restaurant's staff, including training, and performance evaluation 

● Ensure that all food and beverage offerings meet high standards of quality, consistency, and presentation  (last line of defense)

● Foster a positive working environment and cultivate a strong sense of teamwork among the staff 

● Attend to customer complaints and feedback promptly and professionally



Skills and Qualifications

● Proven experience as a Manager or Assistant Manager in a high-volume restaurant environment, minimum 2 years experience

● Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills 

● Food Handlers or ServSafe Certified 

● Ability to manage a diverse team and motivate them to deliver exceptional service

● Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities 

● Flexibility to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends 

● Passion for BBQ and an appreciation for Southern cuisine is a plus

● Regularly work 8 hour shifts or occasional overtime as needed 

● Occasional lift approximately 50 pounds 

● 5-8hr/day filling a FOH role. Walking and standing for the entire period. 

● Occasional bending
