Process Engineer/Food Engineer – Ingredient Manufacturing

Our client is a rapidly growing Food Ingredient manufacturer based in the Columbia, MO area. Based on continued growth, they are looking to hire a Process Engineer (Food Engineer) who will utilize a combination of food science and engineering principles to develop and refine food processing techniques. Your role will involve improving the sensory and nutritional qualities of food products and ensuring process sustainability. You will apply your expertise in biochemistry, microbiology, food chemistry, thermodynamics, transport phenomena, rheology, and heat transfer to enhance product quality and innovation.
Responsibilities
Food Product Development: Apply scientific and engineering principles to design and improve food flavors, textures, appearances, and nutritional profiles.
Nutritional Enhancement: Develop processes that enhance or preserve the nutritional value of food products, contributing to better health outcomes.
Process Engineering: Utilize thermodynamics, transport phenomena, and heat transfer principles to optimize food processing methods for efficiency and quality.
Sustainability Practices: Implement and advocate for sustainable food processing technologies that reduce environmental impact.
Food Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all food products meet stringent safety and regulatory standards, contributing to food security.
Technological Innovation: Integrate the latest advancements in food science and technology to continuously improve our food processing capabilities.
Collaboration: Work closely with R&D, Quality Assurance, and Production teams to align food science innovations with product development goals.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in food science, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
Experience: 3+ years of experience in food science engineering or a similar role.
Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of biochemistry, microbiology, food chemistry, thermodynamics, transport phenomena, rheology, and heat transfer as applied to food science.
Analytical Skills: Proficient in data analysis and problem-solving related to food processing and product development.
Innovation: Demonstrated ability to drive innovation in food science and improve product quality.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information effectively.
Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively within a cross-functional team environment.
