Position Opening Announcement: Food Service Assistant
5.0 Hr/Day position

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Food Service Aides perform a variety of duties in the serving of food and in maintaining sanitary conditions of dining and kitchen facilities. This position is subject to the Collective Bargaining Agreement, SEIU Local 925.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare fruits and vegetables for up to 500 students.
Serve a scratch cooked reimbursable meal to students and staff.
Understand and help prepare and organize meals for students with food allergies and different food
Complete food service tasks in a quick and efficient manner.
Clean and sanitize equipment, utensils, and dishes, ability to use commercial dishwashers.
Deliver meals to students and staff in their classrooms.
Assist other employees in basic food preparation tasks.
Set up and prepare serving areas.
Ability to operate an automated computer meal system.
Ability to handle money and make accurate bank deposits daily.
Ability to reconcile cash at the end of shift.
Specific jobs as assigned by the Food Service Supervisor.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated basic performance skills in quantity food service. Have basic knowledge in the area of child nutrition. Able to read and follow instructions. Knowledge of cooking for large groups of people. Experience with fruit, veggie and meal prep is important. Should be free of any physical impairment that would prevent functioning on the job.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Good health, both mental and physical.
Possess the physical capabilities to perform the job; including lifting of supplies in excess of 40 pounds and maneuvering equipment loaded with food or supplies. Ability to stand on your feet for at least five hours. Ability to walk and deliver meals over a large area.
Ability to work fast and complete tasks quickly and accurately.
Ability to read and follow instructions.
Ability to multi-task and think quickly on your feet.
Ability to apply child nutrition guidelines and requirements, including portion control.
Ability to work cooperatively with all district employees.
Neat in appearance and appropriately attired at all times.
Ability to maintain a safe and sanitary work environment.
Required to have a current Washington State Food Handler's permit.
Required to have a valid driver's license and may be required to drive a food delivery truck.
Ability to learn new procedures and techniques.
Ability to follow district policies.
Reliable Attendance is essential.
DUTIES:
Operate and maintain commercial dishwashing equipment.
Deliver meals to students and teachers around the school.
Help prepare meals with other food service staff.
Follow within the Child Nutrition Program guidelines.

Monitor and maintain proper portion controls.
Maintain food and equipment to meet state and local health department requirements.
Clean and prepare equipment for the next service.
Other duties as assigned by the Food Service Director.
Salary Range: 2024-25 Salary Range $20.03 - $24.63 per hour, depends on school district experience
