Position Objective:
Maintains the computerized diet orders for the floor assigned; prints, modifies, scans, and verifies menus and diet orders. Assembles, checks, and delivers trays to ensure compliance with diet orders and department policies. Supervises the activities of patient service attendants working on their floor to ensure compliance with departmental procedures.

- Oversees the activities of the food service attendants working on their floors to insure all job assignments, tasks and responsibilities are completed consistently.
- Verifies that scheduled staff has reported to duty, and makes adjustments to staffing pattern as needed.
- Trains new employees on meal service, food production, modified diets, tray assembly, delivery, and sanitation according to the orientation schedule.
- Monitors food service staff tray assembly for accuracy and completeness and specifically check all modified diet orders.
- Generate all required computer reports and document meal counts as needed; conducts patient rounds, tray error studies and other quality studies on a regular basis
- Monitors food service staff interaction with patients and customer service delivery.
- Supervises all kitchen and department activities including the cafeteria in absence of daytime Food Service Supervisor and management staff, including closing and securing area at the end of shift.
- Interacts with patients, in a professional manner providing a customer service example for food service staff.
- Responds to patient and nursing requests immediately acting as liaison between nursing and food service attendants.
- Insures that all floors have adequate stock in the pantries, nourishment areas and physician lounges. Monitors assigned areas for cleanliness and status of supplies and insures that they maintain perpetual readiness for regulatory inspections.
Educational/Experience Requirements:
The minimum level of education and experience for this position includes:
- Demonstrates the ability to read and write and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Must be available to work different shifts and weekends.
- Two years in food service required.
- One year supervisory experience desired.

Physical Demands – Heavy
Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
