Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Prepare main dishes and/or baked products for meals in the National School Lunch and Breakfast programs.
DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO: Food Service Supervisor
MAJOR FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare entrees and/or baked products for breakfast, lunch or special meals.
- Accurately weigh and measure food and portions in food preparation.
- Prepares food of large quantity in specified quantities.
- Clean and wash small equipment used in cooking.
- Keep own working area clean.
- Assists food service supervisor and other department workers with projects or tasks assigned.
- Keep accurate production records.
WORK SCHEDULE:
191 Days at 8 hours per day
Monday - Friday; No Weekends Follows the school schedule
REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or Equivalent GED Food Handlers Card
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
MENTAL DEMANDS
- Required to deal with a wide range of student, staff and public behaviors and needs in a positive and service-oriented manner.
- May occasionally deal with distraught or difficult students or parents.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Amount of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and twisting will vary depending on the age of students and classroom assignments.
- Physical capabilities also require lifting and carrying (no more than 50 lbs.) pushing and/or pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting, and significant finger dexterity.
- Generally, the job requires approximately 15% sitting, 35% walking, and 50% standing. Maintaining good hygiene is essential.
