SNF HEALTHCARE is looking for a Full Time Food Service Director (CDM) in a Nursing Home
POSITION TITLE: Director of Food Service
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
1. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must demonstrate ability to organize, develop and direct the overall operation of the Food Service Department in accordance with current state and local standards as well as established facility policies and procedures; assure that proper food quality and service is provided at all times; demonstrate effective verbal and written communication in English. Position requires frequent bending, stooping, stretching, lifting, moving boxes, and heavy pots; lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
2. Education: (1) High school graduate, (2) successful completion of a reputable course in food service operation preferred, and (3) college degree in culinary arts and management.
3. Experience: Previous experience in food service, preparation and management.
4. Certificate/Licenses: Certificates/licenses as required by local/state federal agencies. Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certificate preferred.

JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Assist in the planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing of the food service department.
2. Meet with the Director of Nursing, medical, as well as other related departments in planning food service programs and activities.
3. Assist in the development of, and participation in, programs designed for in-service education, on-the-job training and orientation classes.
4. Interview residents or family members to obtain diet history.
5. Inspect daily the food service area for compliance with current applicable regulations.
6. Review complaints and make necessary oral/written reports to Administrator.
7. Assist in the purchasing and ordering of food, supplies, equipment, etc. as required.
8. Develop and maintain a file of tested standard recipes.
9. Maintain the food service department in clean and compliant working condition.
10. Review the dietary requirements of each resident admitted to the facility and assist in planning of the resident’s prescribed diet plan.
11. Check food production and food services to assure proper procedures are maintained at all times.
12. Inventory and weigh incoming food and supplies.
13. Direct storage of food and supplies.
14. Assist in food preparation and cleaning duties as necessary.
15. Report all accidents/incidents immediately.
16. Plan and assist preparation of special meals for parties, etc.
17. Assist in developing and monitoring adequate inventory control procedures.
18. Visit residents periodically to evaluate meals served.
19. Monitor returned food, evaluate why food was not eaten, and initiate a corrective action to avoid waste.
20. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, scheduling and evaluating Food Service Staff.
21. Participate in resident’s care plans.
22. Update department’s policies and procedures manual at least annually.
23. Practices safe working habits.
