JOB TITLE: Food Service Manager -
TYPE OF POSITION: Classified, Hourly
REPORTS TO: Food Service Director, Building Principal
40 Hours a Week, 191 Work Days
POSITION PURPOSE: Supervises and coordinates activities of food service personnel in the front of the house, i.e. the dining room, serving area, teachers dining area, a la carte area, and point of sale stations. Responsible for serving well balanced meals according to the National School Lunch Program. Works with the Assistant Cafeteria Manager to build an effective cross trained team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
1. Collaborates with the Assistant Manager to plan weekly needs and sends weekly food and supply orders to the Food Service Director for Approval.
2. Plans varied menus following the USDA guidelines to ensure food is appetizing and nutritionally suitable for students. Follows NSLP policies with having menus verified with the corporate dietitian.
3.Verifies all employees are continually trained on sanitation and food safety. Works with Assistant Manager to plan employee professional development requirements and training agenda for e-learning days.
4.Audits and verifies daily preparation and serving amounts on daily production reports. Also verifies with the Assistant Manager the daily reports on meals served, ala carte items purchased, and expected total deposit for the day.
5.Reports immediately to the Principal and Food Service Director any accident occurring in the kitchen/dining room premises.
6.Confers with the Assistant Manager and the Food Service Director regarding any personnel problems.
7.Schedules regular meetings with food service personnel and meetings with the Assistant Manager
8.Audits and approves daily bank deposits. Works with Assistant Manager to double count cash to reflect accurate reporting on deposit slips.
9.Plans, organizes, orders and invoices all catering events.
10. Schedules and approves employee schedules in Time Clock System.
11. Performs other duties as assigned by the Food Service Director and/or the CFO.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises food service employees in their building. Responsibilities include training and empowering employees to prepare meals and serve meals with outstanding customer service, verifying daily accounting, and appraising employees performance. Addressing and solving complaints. Build good working relationships with students, teachers, and the principal of their building.

2.The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation.
