Position Summary
The Food Service Worker provides food preparation and customer services to include a variety of specialized duties related to the cafe for serving customers.
Can be at times responsible for the delivery of trays to and from patients.
Acts as a liaison between the customers and the kitchen, communicate all cafe food needs to the appropriate area of the department, assists the cooks by ensuring all customer needs are met including food prep. Maintains cleanliness of the kitchen and other assigned food and nutrition areas, receives cash from customers as payment for goods or services performs retail café duties ensuring service and merchandising standards by providing customers with prompt service, quality beverages and products and contribute to a friendly, upbeat and clean atmosphere.
- Maintains friendly, efficient, attitude towards customers, co-workers, patients, and visitors.
- Sets up and maintains assigned work area in a neat, clean, and orderly manner to facilitate efficiency and ensure food safety.
- Prepares beverages and food items to standard.
- Performs cleaning tasks in accordance with the duty rosters and cleaning standards and works as a store team member.
- Delivers patient trays during meal service.
- Inventories and re-stocks pantries, refrigerators, and freezers on assigned unit(s). Maintains temperature logs for unit refrigerators and freezers.
- Follows all cash handling procedures and policies.
- Cleans tables, counters, and various types of retail and kitchen equipment and sweeps and mops floors.
- Welcomes and connects with every customer.
- Records all appropriate meal information for volunteers, employees, and physicians. Submits all information to the designated person at the end of each shift.
- Operates cash register by keying the correct items and ensuring the correct tender is collected.
- Experience preferred in healthcare or similar food customer setting preferred but not required. Ability to communicate (both verbal and written) effectively.
- Experience in customer service required.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to work well under time constraints.
Additional Information
Job Type: Full-time 40hrs/week
Salary: $16.00-$16.50 DOE
Mon-Fri AM Shift: 6:00am - 2:30pm
