Position Summary:
Join our team as a Food Service Worker 1! This role supports dining hall kitchen operations with a variety of responsibilities including serving food, maintaining facility cleanliness, aiding in meal preparation, and collaborating closely with cooks and kitchen staff. Knowledge of safe food handling practices in a team setting is essential. Gain hands-on experience with meal preparation, food service equipment, and restaurant operation. Responsibilities:
- Assisting cooks and other kitchen personnel in such tasks as cleaning and paring vegetables, washing dishes, serving from a serving line, cleaning tables, and sweeping floors.
- Not only responsible for neatness and cleanliness in preparing, handling and serving food, but for serving patrons in a pleasant and courteous manner.
- Care and use of food service equipment including meat slicer, mixing machine, and steam cookers.
- Performs related work as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of the methods and practices of safe food handling in a team environment.
- Knowledge of the methods of practice of food preparation.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to move loads up to 50 lbs., perform push/pull activity with products weighing up to 30 lbs., and perform duties with repetitive motion of wrists, arm, and shoulder.
- Possess hand and finger coordination, reach, climb, balance, crouch, twist, crawl, and kneel.
- Ability to work in noisy, hot/cold environments with chemicals, cleaning equipment, dust, fumes, and odors.
- Ability to work long hours standing, and under conditions of high temperature.
