Job Title:
Food Technologist
Job Purpose
The Food Technologist is responsible for the development of product specifications and the maintenance of Own Brand product quality. This position will evaluate new and current products in their respective food categories to ensure product brand requirements are met. The Food Technologist will qualify vendors to ensure facilities meet GFSI and Regulatory requirements for food safety, as well as manage supplier expectations.

Perform and report analytical and organoleptic evaluations on applicable company products in assigned categories for quality, condition and adherence to product specification. Support new product development and improvement initiatives.

Input and track product specifications, certification audits and detailed information on products and suppliers within the company reporting program, assuring accuracy and complete data for supplier information.

Partner with suppliers and QC leadership to develop specific quality process improvement plans after determining the root cause, in particular after a withdrawal, recall or other identified quality or food safety issue. Travel to suppliers as needed to review capabilities and monitor any production issues.

Support the merchants with ensuring information on product recall/withdrawal forms are accurate.

Ensure Compliance to the Fresh Label program. Provide training to the Category Managers on the Fresh Label procedures

• Bachelor’s degree and Minimum of 2 years of experience in a food related industry
• Minimum 3 days per week onsite
• Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently.
• Ability to understand and follow English instructions.
• Proficient in excel
• Knowledge Supplier Management Program
• Knowledge and understanding of GFSI recognized audit schemes
• Understanding of root cause analysis methodology
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Preferred
• Manufacturing experience in Quality Assurance or Food Safety
• Food Safety Auditing experience
