Position Overview:
The transmission service technician will diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle automotive systems, including the engine, transmission, electrical steering, suspension, brakes, and air conditioning. The technician will address service problems and make necessary repairs and adjustments in a professional, quality manner.
Pay Range: $40.00 - $60.00 Flag Rate (based on experience)
Who You Are:
- 2+ years of experience handling transmissions
- Dependable/ reliable and can work independently with minimal supervision
- Adaptable/flexible - enjoys doing work that requires frequent shifts in direction
- Detail-oriented – highly focused on the details and quality of work
- 2+ years of automotive experience (Dealership or Independent Repair shop)
- A team player and interacts with managers and co-workers in a professional, courteous manner
- Can function effectively in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment
Essential Functions:
- Perform quality repairs on assigned repairs. Conduct a quality check after each repair.
- Work with Service Writers on needed repairs, including parts needs, and advise the manager of any changes or deviations from the repair order's original instructions.
- Complete comprehensive documentation of cause/correction, specifications, and other pertinent information to describe repair activities.
- Ensure current knowledge of the latest technical data and service procedures.
- Attend required service training sessions or meetings and share expertise with others.
- Maintain essential tools necessary to complete assigned jobs.
- Maintain the ability to use all company equipment and tools correctly or seek assistance. Clean and lock up all tools daily.
- Perform all repairs in assigned work areas unless otherwise instructed by the Group Leader.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and orderly work area at all times.
- Assist in the cleanup of the team area each evening.
- Clock on and off all repair orders as required.
- Perform PDI following the manufacturer's check sheet guidelines, including road test.
- Maintain a positive attitude when dealing with management, parts personnel, and other technicians
Requirements:
- Previous (2+ years) of transmission automotive technician experience
- Ford transmission experience is required
- At least 18 years of age
- Must possess a valid driver's license and have a favorable motor vehicle record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen for illegal substances
- Authorized to work in the United States
