About the Job
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely performing a wide range of tasks that include stacking corrugated products, conducting quality checks, material set-up, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. In addition, the operator is responsible for the accurate receiving, storing, and shipping of products to meet company standards of safety, productivity, and quality. This includes the operation of basic forklifts in the handling of products. Must be available to work scheduled hours to meet customer needs.

Pay Range: $18 /hr. (needed immediately!! 1st shift Monday-Friday 7:00 AM to 3:30PM and 2nd Shift Monday through Thursday 3:30 PM to 2 AM- Class A CDL is a plus!)***
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for operating electric and manual pallet jack, stand-up and sit-down forklift.
- Complete a daily checklist on Material Handling Equipment (MHE) before the start of the shift.
- Ensure all safety equipment and devices are in place and working properly.
- Safe operation of the MHE within the plant/warehouse to prevent damage or personal injury.
- Responsible for unloading inbounds, warehousing materials, supplying production lines, and loading outbound shipments.
- Check trailers to make sure they are safe to use.
- Ensure materials are properly unitized and marked.
- Accurately check the quantity and description of the materials handled.
- Load various size pallets to maximize trailer cube while minimizing in-transit damage.
- Complete paperwork associated with the movement of materials in an accurate and timely manner.
- Maintain accurate inventory of all materials and complete daily cycle counts.
- Responsible for the overall safety and cleanliness of equipment and area.
- Follow all PPE policies, including safety glasses and gloves as required.
- Use the scanning system for all transactions and movements of raw materials and finished goods.
- Work in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
- High school diploma/GED required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 1-year experience operating sit-down propane-powered and stand-up forklifts.
- Experience operating a yard truck is a plus.
- Knowledge of various material handling equipment required.
- Knowledge of RF/barcode scanning systems required.
CORE COMPETENCIES:
- Must be able to work scheduled hours (and overtime as needed)
- Must be able to obtain forklift certification.
- Possess basic mathematical and computer skills to handle software and shipment details.
- Able to learn and use wireless RF scanning equipment to ensure accuracy of inventory.
- Possess good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
- Assist other areas as need to maintain a team approach.
- Ability to effectively manage time and meet set targets and deadlines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Walking, talking, hearing, and vision are required over 95% of the time, while standing, bending, stooping, and twisting are required about 40% of the time. Sitting and feeling are required 75% of the time, and reaching is required about 20% of the time. Pushing and pulling are required less than 10% of the time. Low levels of lifting (10 pounds or less) are required about 10% of the time, while medium levels of lifting and carrying (20 to 40 pounds) are required less than 5% of the time.
