Job Summary:
A Forklift Operator is responsible for loading and unloading all kinds of freight vehicles. However, forklift operators may work in a warehouse, factory, supply yards, or on loading docks. Forklift operators are usually hired to work on a contract basis.
Forklift Operator Responsibilities:
- Line hauling, loading, and unloading freight.
- Picking and packaging orders.
- Warehousing and shipping.
- Maintaining simple inventory.
- Verify items received.
- Check the conditions and quality of items received.
- Perform quality checks and safety measures.
- Ensure timely delivery of freight.
- Maintenance of all forklift-related equipment.
- Willing to work on a contract basis ranging from 3 to 6 months or on an annual contract.
- Willing to work in shifts and overtime.
Forklift Operator Knowledge & Experience:
- High School Diploma
- Warehouse Experience / Facility Materials Conveyance
- Ability and skill to maneuver the forklift without a pallet
- Ability to handle light and heavy lifting with ease
- Basic documenting skills
- Knowledge about related equipment and their maintenance
- Knowledge of all safety measures to be taken during the forklift operation
- Knowledge of warehouse inventory
- Should have good organization skills and verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in using a computer, Microsoft Office, Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Excel
Physical Demands:
- Stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Ability to travel by plane
