Role Overview:
We are seeking a Fraud Investigator to support our Fraud Prevention and Investigations Team. In this role, you'll handle investigations ranging from routine to complex, monitor fraud detection systems, and process claims related to fraudulent activity. You'll be empowered to make critical decisions in a fast-paced environment while applying your professional judgment on a daily basis. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to cross-train in various departmental functions.
Key Responsibilities:

Fraud Investigation:
- Conduct fraud investigations, from basic to complex cases, involving various payment channels.
- Handle Regulation E claims (ACH and debit card disputes).
- Apply best practices for recovering funds lost to fraudulent activity.
- Stay up-to-date with industry regulations such as the Bank Secrecy Act, UCC, and Regulation E.
- Use professional judgment to analyze cases and make sound decisions.

Risk Management:
- Balance risk mitigation with customer experience during investigations.
- Evaluate fraud scenarios and respond quickly to prevent losses.
- Communicate effectively with fraud victims or suspects to validate high-risk activities.

Leadership & Influence:
- Lead by example, staying informed of emerging fraud trends through training and continuous learning.
- Provide input on new ventures and assist in assessing potential fraud risks and mitigation strategies.

Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Use analytical tools and systems to review fraudulent activity and patterns.
- Identify opportunities to improve internal policies, controls, and procedures through case analysis.
- Draft concise case reports that meet both departmental and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of fraud investigation experience, ideally within the financial services sector.
- Solid understanding of relevant regulations and fraud investigation practices.
- Confidence in conducting interviews with victims, witnesses, and suspects.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience working with various office and fraud detection tools, particularly MS Office and core banking systems.
