- All our programs support parental resilience by making parents feel valued, acknowledged, and supported in every interaction we have with them. We also spend a lot of time focusing on parental resilience with our home visiting and Nurturing Parenting programs.
- We promote social connections for parents and youth with programs like Nurturing Parenting and Play School Education.
- We help families get important concrete supports in times of need by providing food, resources and referrals, Voluntary Income Tax Assistance, enrolling people in health insurance and CalFresh and providing childcare payments through our CalWORKS Child Care Subsidy program.
- Parents learn about parenting and child development and how to support children's social and emotional competence through our Play School Education, Developmental Screening, Nurturing Parenting, and Period of PURPLE Crying outreach programs.
ROLE IMPACT
Your impact as the front desk receptionist helps YCCA in meeting the needs of the communities we serve by being a friendly and energetic "face" of the West Sacramento Family Resource Center. Your role provides key information on the organization's programs to new and returning clients as well as provides support to the FRC team with critical clerical skills to keep the team on task.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A FRONT DESK RECEPTIONIST
You will work with the Family Resource Center team leadership fulfilling critical receptionist and clerical duties to meet FRC team objectives and provide front desk support to new and returning clients.
Daily duties may include:
- Greeting visitors and answering phones warmly to ensure clients feel welcome and comfortable
- Screening clients for resources requested and answering inquiries about the Resource Center
- Directing clients to the right staff member for further assistance with certain programs. Refers clients to outside agencies when appropriate
- Listening to voicemails and ensuring phone messages get replies/call backs
- Referring clients that come/call in to staff proportionately so as to not overload one staff member with all appointments/walk-ins
- Ensuring front desk is tidy and presentable with all necessary materials (pens, intake forms, etc.) available
- Monitoring office supplies (sticky notes, white out, etc.) at the FRC and informing manager when supply order is needed to be placed. Ensures general FRC is organized, and general supplies are easily located.
- Collecting and distributing parcels and other mail as needed.
- Creating and updating calendar of the Family Resource Center hours of operation monthly to be placed at the front gate
- Updating voicemail box with events and common questions to decrease calls and increase overall productivity of the FRC
- Helping track front desk activity with Sign-Ins to write reports to funders
- As needed, providing direct assistance with particular resources
- Revising vacation calendar so staff are aware of when each individual will be out of the office
- Completing other clerical duties as needed by the FRC team

Must Have Skills/Qualifications
- MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and ability to work effectively in a secure database
- Strong data management and reporting skills for quality assurance and for presenting data in reports, memos, charts, graphs, and other appropriate forms
- Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills to multi-lingual and multi-level audiences, for example direct service staff, management staff, customers/clients, community-based organizations and agencies, and local businesses
- Exemplary interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively and in a supportive manner within an interdisciplinary team, and culturally diverse populations
- Exemplary customer service skills. Consistently demonstrates professionalism, poise, tact, and diplomacy in interactions with others including in confidential or sensitive situations
- Demonstrates good judgment, organization and prioritization skills and time management skills
- Familiarity with office machines (e.g. fax, printer, etc.)
- Self-motivated and able to work with interruptions
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize assignments
Nice to Have Skills
- Previous experience with low-income populations
- Familiarity with Yolo County is a plus
- Knowledge of child welfare system, educational system, and issues that affect families

While performing this job, the employee is required to sit often and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, lift approximately 25 pounds on occasion, and to stoop, kneel, or squat, and drive on occasion. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
